MAMALLAPURAM

In Mahabalipuram or Mamallapuram you will discover the famous ‘Shore Temple’-built during 7th century by Rajasimha and it is oriented east, towards the ocean. By following that you will visit ‘Arjuna’s Penance’ which is an enormous rock-cut relief. And then ‘Five Rathas’-known as Panch Rathas, meaning five chariots, magnificent stone structures, each curved out of a single huge boulder.

 

PONDICHERRY

In Pondicherry you will visit ‘Auroville’ (A City of Dawn French)-is a universal town, the purpose of this place is to realize ‘human unity’. Next in order you will visit ‘Aurobindo Ashram’-grew out of a small community of disciples. Following this ‘Manakula Vinayagar Temple’-dedicated to lord Ganesa, being more than 500 years old it has an illustration history and one of the temples in the region.

KANCHEEPURAM

Here you will be visiting ‘Varadharaja Perumal Temple’ known as ‘Hastagiri and Attiyuran.’ It is considered as one of the ‘Divya Desams’. Following this next to ‘Kanchi Kamatchi Temple’, it is considered as one of the highest aspects of ‘Adi Shakti’.

By concluding this next to ‘Ekambareswarar Temple’-which is dedicated to lord Shiva. This temple is considered as one of the Panch Boothas Stalas. VELLORE

In Vellore you will visit the famous ‘Golden Temple Complex’, which is located inside the ‘Thirupuram’ spiritual park. The salient feature of ‘Thirupuram’ is the Lakshmi Narayani Temple, who’s “Vimanam and Ardha Mandapam” is covered with pure gold.

Following this next to ‘Vellore Fort’-it is a large 16th century fort. It is considered as the headquarters of ‘Aravidu Dynasty’ of the ‘Vijayanagara Empire’

THIRUVANNAMALAI

In Thiruvannamalai you will be visiting “Arunachaleswarar Temple” or “Annamalaiyar Temple”-this temple is a South Indian (Dravidian) architecture and sculpture. Especially Thiruvannamalai Arunachaleswarar temple is also famous for its Girivalam, a walk all the way round the 14 km path around the hill.

During this girivalam you will be visiting Eight Lingams known as ‘Ashtalingam’-“Indra lingam, Agni lingam, Yama lingam, Niruthi lingam, Varuna lingam, Kubera lingam and Esanya lingam. At last you will be visiting to ‘Ramana Ashram’- a samathi of ‘Ramana Maharishi’ and it is also considered as meditation hall.

TANJAVUR

In Tanjavur you will visit ‘Brihadisvara Temple’ or ‘Thanjai Periya Kovil’ called ‘Rajarajesvaram’-built in a chola architectural style. It is a Hindu temple dedicated to lord Shiva. This temple is considered as one of the par of “UNESCO World Heritage Site” known as the ‘Great Living Chola Temples’.

Next to ‘Tanjavur Maratha Palace’ or ‘Tanjavur Nayak Palace Complex’, known as “Aranmanai”. This palace consists-“Sardar Mahal Palace, the Queen’s Courtyard and The Durbar Hall, The Royal Palace Museum, The Raja Serfoji Memorial Hall, A Small Bell Tower and Saraswathi Mahal Library. The ‘Chandramouleeswarar Temple’ is also located within this premises.

TRICHY

In Trichy or Thiruchirapalli you will be visiting “Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple”-dedicated to lord Vishnu in the avadharam of ‘Rangathan’ and Lakshmi as ‘Ranganayaki’. This temple is glorified by ‘Alvars’ in their “Naalayira Divya Prabhandam”.

Your next visiting will be at ‘Ucchi Pillaiyar Temple”-a 7th century Hindu temple, it is the one dedicated to lord Ganesha, which is located at a top of Rock fort in Trichy. In Thiruchirapalli Rock Fort is also fondly called as “Malaikottai”, which stands 83 meters tall.

MADURAI

The Bank of River Vagai, it is an ancient city of India. In Madurai you will be visiting “Meenakshi Sundareswarar Temple”-one of the prominent shrines in India. Then next visiting will be at ‘Thirumalai Nayak Palace’-17th century palace erected in 1636 CE by King Thirumal Nayak.

And you will also visit “Gandhi Memorial Museum”-it is considered as one of the five ‘Gandhi Sanghralayas’. The palace of Rani Mangammal was renovated and converted into the museum. Next to ‘Vandiyur Mariamman Teppakulam’-it is connected to Vagai River through an ingenious system of underground channels. In Centre of the Teppakulam there is a Mandapam known as ‘Maiya Mandapam’ with “Vinayagar Temple”.

KANYAKUMARI

In Kanyakumari you will be visiting ‘Vivekananda Rock Memorial’-a monument to honor ‘Swami Vivekananda’ and it is built in 1970. Next visit will be to our Poet and Philosopher “Thiruvalluvar’s Statue”-it is about 41 meter tall stone sculpture. As well as you can watch the sunrise and sunset in beach at morning and evening. Continuing this your next will be to ‘Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Mandapam’-built in 1956 for Gandhiji. This is the place he spent his last 144 days of his life.

Following this you will be visiting ‘Kamarajar Mani Mandapam’-dedicated to Sri Kamarajar Memorial hall and this place displays his rare collections of photography of his life history.

RAMESWARAM

Here you will be visiting ‘Ramanathaswamy Temple’-a Hindu temple dedicated to the God Shiva. It is one of the twelve Jyotir Linga temple and it is also one of the 275 ‘Paadal Petra Sthalams’, where three of the most revered Nayanar’s Appar, Sundarar & Tirugnana Sambandar have glorified the temple with their songs.

Your next visit will be at ‘Kothandaramaswamy Temple’, which is located in Dhanushkodi. This temple is dedicated to Hindu deity Rama. This temple is the only historical structure to survive the 1964 cyclone that washed away Dhanushkodi. After this you will discover the ‘Longest Bridge in India’-“Pamban Bridge”, it is 2.2km length connecting the Rameswaram and Mainland in India.
